I had graduated from a 2 year post secondary program and applied for a post grad work permit in 2011. Although I was eligible for a 3 years work permit, I only received a 2 year work permit as my passport was to expire in that duration. These comments were also noted on my work permit. I am about to apply for the renewal of my passport and want to know if it would be possible for me to submit a new application and my original work permit and get an additional year on the permit based on my renewed passport? This would save me a lot of trouble to go through HRSDC and LMO. If anybody can help, please advise. Thanks.
As long as it says on the PGWP, then you are eligible for the extra one year. Make sure you renew you passport first and then apply for PGWP extension....

Thank you for your response. It is noted under remarks on the work permit. The exact wording is "Issued to duration of passport. Maximum three years under this program". Does this entitle me to an extra year based on a renewed passport if I reply? Thanks.
Yes, and in your request explain that you have renewed the passport and are requesting the additional year remaining for your post-grad work permit.
