Police Clearence Certificate Expired

Hi Everyone,

My application package was received on September 26, 2014.I got AOR on February 5, 2015 and I mailed my original PCC that is issued in October 4, 2014 to Ottawa today. I was wondering should I have to apply another PCC to be safe. If your Police Clearance certificate is expired,when will cic contact you to update the another PCC?

Not sure why you think it has expired. When did you apply to CEC? It is valid if it is issued no more than 3 months before your application date, and is valid for 1 year from date of issue.

PCC is definitely expired. It should have been obtained in the 3 months prior to sending it.

From what I am understanding from the following statement from CIC, I don't think your police certificate is expired.

"The certificate must have been issued no more than three months prior to submitting your application. If the original certificate is not in English or French, then you will need to submit both the certificate and the original copy of the translation prepared by an accredited translator"

PCC is definitely expired. It should have been obtained in the 3 months prior to sending it.

NOT expired, it was issued AFTER the application was sent.

For it to expire, it would have to (a) be more than 1 year old, or (c) be issued more than 3 months before the application was received by CIC.

It's perfectly fine.

And yes, if for some reason CIC wants a new one, they will contact you.

I got the PCC reissued again Dec 2014 in case the one I submitted expires (due to 1 year completion). I think it does not harm to have the PCC re-issued, if it is not too much pain in procuring one. But choose a later date to apply (say April 2015), so that it stays alive longer.
