I am sponsoring my wife to immigrate to Canada. We are both residing in Cyprus and I am a Canadian Citizen by birth. We are ready to send our application to CIC in Ontario but realized that we are missing a Police Clearance from South Africa, where my wife was born. We contact the relevant South African department and they informed us that it can take 6 - 8 weeks to issue a police clearance certificate.
As our application is ready and to avoid delays, I am contemplating sending the application and informing them that the relevant police clearance certificate will follow.
Does anyone have any experience with this process or anything similar? Is it a waste of time to send it out without the necessary certificate? I have to be approved as sponsor first, so I'm wondering whether they will even look at my wife's documents until my sponsor assessment is completed and the file is transferred to Tel-Aviv.
I know that it is better to send a completed application, but that will mean waiting another 6 - 8 weeks, loosing valuable processing time.
I would be interested to hear your thoughts, comments and suggestions.
i have submitted my app without the police certificate but included them in the application wit my file number when it was ready. many applicants have done the same.
good luck on your application.

I submitted my husband's application July 10th with an outdated police clearance and translation and a note that we would send a new one. At the time I did not realize that they were only valid for 3 months and it takes 45-55 days for a new one in Cuba. I will wait and see if it gets sponsor approval and let you know.
Better inform them asap through email, or letter which enclose some of your documents.
That's what I did when I apply my singapore police cert which took 15 days
and suddenly get delayed on courier. Btw I send my passport first, to follow my
Sg Pc which happens on PPR stage. Hope it helps.
