Police clearance... anyone know about this?

Hi.

I have been employed on board cruise ships.

My concern is the police clearance from work (abroad) that is required from the Family Class category. I asked our office in Miami and said that they do not give any police clearance and advised me to get it from the manning agency. Is this possible and acceptable?

Please help me.
