last question I just spoke with CIC and they said that my hubby does not require to get a Canadian police check, but just a police check from his home country (Jamaica) question is what all do I send to Jamaica to request the clearance report? Do they send it back to us and we mail it out with the application or does it need to go to CIC directly?

If he has legally lived in Canada for more then 6 months (on a status) then he needs a Police check

No - he doesn't.

Police checks are required for all countries with the exception of Canada.

Canadian police checks are only required in exceptional circumstances. In these cases, CIC will specifically ask for one.

Agreed CIC said they will complete their own check or request of it is required.

question still stands - Jamaica will send the certificate back to us right? There isnt a specific application that needs to be filled out? I dont see anything for a download of an application on the Jamaica section of the police certificate on the website, so I guess just a basic typed up letter explained what we need along with the fingersprints and 2 photos will do then right?

If you can't find anything on their website maybe you should call, when I had to get them for every state I lived in each place was different 1 state didn't even ask for fingerprints just name dob etc... then another state had a specific fingerprint form and would accept that no other, they mailed it to me, it was not available online. of course this is a completely different country, point is I guess it would be safer to call and ask so that you know you are sending exactly what they want.

Without having knowledge of the Jamaican police check. You will more than likely have to fill out a specific application and also include photograph's of yourself certified by a professional person. Once they have completed your police check, they will send the certificate back to yourself and you then forward that on to CIC along with your application. As for fingerprints they may/ may not be required, I think the fingerprint thing is mainly a U.S thing.

You should be able to find all this information if you google Jamaican PCC.

Good luck :D

1. Did you read the instructions at : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/central-south-amer/jamaica.asp
2. If he is in Canada it will be mailed to you. Your representative has to apply
