I will be sending my CEC application soon, and I followed the link for the Police Certificates for Brazilians: cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/central-south-amer/brazil.asp
3 different police certificates are required.
Following the links on the CIC webpage I found that items 1 and 3 can be issued online, they get ready right away after you fill in your information in the Brazilian authority websites, you than print the certificate which contains the result of the background check and a verification code that can be used to check the document.
My question is, will they be accepted or does CIC require "regular" manually requested police certificates ?
I don't think CIC will have a problem with it when the link says so, but you can print the section related to this and include with your application. Also check with the CIC call centre.
The link doesn't actually tell me directly to do it the online, but in the website that the links takes you to, the online method is the first thing that is recommended. It was actually quite hard to find that I can actually do it in person/manually and not just online.
The CIC person didn't have a good answer, they said "as long as the online version is the same as the regular version", which of course it isn't. I felt like she didn't actually know.
Well, you can submit the items you obtained online with your application and write an explanation that you will be requesting hard copies of items 1, 2, 3 and will forward when you recieve them.
Read the CEC checklist - CIC strongly encourages that you sibmit the police certificates with your application, but if you are unable to obtain it, you may submit your application without it but you must take steps to obtain it and submit it when requested by VO.
Thanks. I know that the initial application does not need to contain the police checks but that's not my original question.
What I am concerned about is if the police certificates obtained online will be accepted or not.
