Hello everyone,

I just submitted my documents for spousal sponsorship. In the checklist (police certificates section), there is a note at the bottom of the page "we encourage you to start the process of obtaining your police certificate in advance as we will send you a request to submit them shortly after we receive your application.".

So I looked on the CIC website, they said that I need:
- A full electronic set of fingerprints on form C-216C taken by one of these accredited companies or police services ---- I will go to the police to get the fingerprints
- A complete application form (available on the RCMP website) ---- I could NOT find this form anywhere

So, in my understanding, I need to print out an "application form" then bring it the local police office to get the fingerprints. Then they will electronically send them to the RCMP. Is that correct? but how do the RCMP link my fingerprint to my account?

and on the website the processing time for Electronic fingerprint application (NO match) is 3 business days or less. Is that correct? If so, should i wait until I receive the request for police certificate?

Also, I went back to my country every summer, so I have spent more than six months there since the age of 18 but NOT CONTINUOUSLY (I usually go for 3 weeks per summer) - so do I need a police certificate from my country?

I am so confused so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you so much!!!!

You just submitted your documents, which mean you haven't been asked for anything yet.

If you looked at the CIC website, you will have seen:

"The Canadian visa office will tell you if you need a Canadian criminal record check while your application is being processed" (IRCC do their own checks, and most people don't need a Canadian one; it's only for people whose name and dob can't clear them from a known criminal).

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/security/police-cert/north-america/canada.asp

If you're worried you can't find the application form online, you'll have seen the instruction from the RCMP of
Step 2: Fill in your application (paper submission) or provide the following information to the person taking your fingerprints (electronic submission)

(In otherwords: There is no application form online).

Short answer: You're looking for a form that doesn't exist, to fulfill a document request that hasn't been made.

Relax, and stop worrying about it.
