I have a question about the police certificates. The CIC states that if you were in a country for longer than six months, you need to get a police certificate; this also counts for my husband. Just to be clear: if your TOTAL stay was longer than six months you have to get a police certificate right?

For example: my husband works as a freelancer and was dispatched to Italy for 2 months per trip. He made four of those trips, but always came home in between them (for at least 2 weeks). In total, he spent 8 months working in Italy, but that was not continuous. Also, he slept on a work vessel on sea (Italian waters though). Anyone have any experience with a similar situation?

You are correct - it is 6 months cumulative across any number of trips to a given country, then you need PCC from there. I think the Italian PCC will cover the sea portion of his stay as well.
