Dear All,
We know that 30 CRS points are awarded for Master's Level Canadian Education. However, what should be the length of the studies to get the points?
I got an offer from Rotman (UofT) for Master of Financial Risk Management, which is 8 months program.
Will I get 30 points for 8 months program?
Please help me. I need to take decision soon.
Thanks
Hi
Since the program is less than 1 year, you won't get any points for it.
In order to get 30 points you would need to a program credential of 3 years or longer.

This is wrong.
IRCC website says the following requirements to get credit for Canadian university degree:
- English or French as a Second Language must not have made up more than half your study
- you must not have studied under an award that required you to return to your home country after graduation to apply your skills and knowledge
- you must have studied at a school within Canada (foreign campuses don’t count)
- you had to be enrolled full time for at least eight months, and have been physically present in Canada for at least eight months.

Full time in this case is defined by the university. Yes, you would get credit! Go for it!
@picklee I absolutely agree

I have a serious doubt on this guideline.
I can't paste links in here, but if you also look on CRS system on CIC, check Additional Points in Section D.
It states that the EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM needs to be atleast 1 year for 15 points and 3 years for 30 points.
I am aware of the 8 month full time guideline too, but am sure there is something we are missing here. Why would a diploma holder who did 1 year get only 15 points, whereas a masters degree of 8 months would get 30 points.

You are referring to this page:

You get points based on
level of education, not necessarily length of program. A masters degree is higher than any lesser three year program, even if it only took 8 months.
When they say one, two, or three year program, they are referring to anything less than a bachelor degree. It doesn't matter if you got your bachelor degree in three years, you would be awarded points based on the fact that you have a bachelor degree.

A Masters degree from Rotman will definitely count towards the 30 points for Canadian Education.
To the other person saying why diploma holder gets 15 points - simply because of the difference in level of education.
