I am filing my 2018 tax right now and encountering a problem. I live in rental apartment and pay a rent myself. Simple Tax has a section T776 "Rental Income". The system is not allowing me to skip this section. I mean I do not have a rental income, I do not rent out any property, but on the contrary, I pay for my apartment. How can I skip this section?
Another question. Where in Simple Tax I can include my expenses for rent. I could not find it yet

That section will pop up if you RECEIVE rental income from a piece of property you rent out .
I’d go back to the beginning of the tax software and typically it’ll be at the beginning under a profile section . You have to go back and correct the mistake and then it’ll take out that part it wants you to fill in
Rent is not deductible and neither is mortgage interest. Only way it would be included in your taxes is if you had your professional office in your home. Then part of your rent could be written off as a business expense. Agree you must have selected something earlier like that you had an investment property or something like that.
