Hi I was wondering how long it will take for my husband to come to Canada after "Decision was made", "Medical results have been received".
(Sponsorship Application Status) My file:
DECISION MADE
1. We received your application to sponsor "MY HUSBAND NAME" on August 19, 2013.
2. We sent you a letter on September 10, 2013 about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us.
(Permanent Residence Application Status) On my husband file:
APPLICATION RECEIVED
1. We received "MY HUSBAND NAME" application for permanent residence on August 19, 2013.
2. Medical results have been received
How long will it take? Can anyone tell me what happens after this message I received. ??? It's now 1 month and 16 days past, no letter was received, only one on September 10th. :-X
Re: "Decision was made", "Medical results have been received" ???
You are only at the beginning of the application process. There is a lot more waiting for you before stage 2 is complete. Which visa office is handling the application?
Re: "Decision was made", "Medical results have been received" ???
You are looking at about another year at least... 80% of applications are processed within 16 months at that visa office. http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm/fc-spouses.asp
Re: "Decision was made", "Medical results have been received" ???
Thanks, but most my friends I knew got in 4-5 months. Plus their status were as mines. Not sure what is happening. 16 months is too long. ??? Thanks for your information. ;D

The posted processing times show that 80% of applications are processed WITHIN 16 months - that means any time from a few months to 16 months. It also means 20% of applications take longer than 16 months. Unfortunately, it doesn't matter how quickly your friends got an answer. You may be lucky and get a decision in 4-5 months, or a year, or 16 months, or longer. Nobody knows. If you are planning for when your husband can go to Canada after receiving PR you need to plan to wait for 16 months. At this stage, your husband's application is somewhere in the queue and processing of it has not yet started. He is right at the very beginning of the process.
It's hard to be patient when we want to be with our spouses but the immigration process is a long one & we have no choice but to wait.
