Dear All,

I have such a doubt for a long time, and really can not find the answers, appreciate your help!

I arrived at Canada in January 2014. My income is qualified from 2014 until now per CIC`s requirement.

I think the official policy is that — I need to be in Canada for more than 3 years then I can sponsor the parents.

My question is — Am I eligible for sponsoring my parents if I apply in 2017?

In CIC webiste, it`s saying when applying in 2016, need to offer NOA for 2012,2013,2014.

So seemed when applying in 2017, I need to offer NOA for 2013, 2014, 2015?

I definitely do not have the tax for 2013 before my landing.

Well, if I am offering NOA for 2014, 2015, and other proof for 2016 income, is it going to work?

Sorry for my writing, if that makes you confused to understand…

But I really appreciate any help, thoughts, suggestions on this!

Best Regards

No - it won't work. You will need to wait until 2018. You must include your tax assessments with the application in order to be accepted as a sponsor. You won't have your 2016 tax assessment by January 2017. So you will have to wait until 2018 when you will have assessments for 2014, 2015 and 2016 and will qualify to sponsor.

That makes sense...

Thanks a lot scylla for your comments! :) :)

The tax assessment for 2016 can be received by april 2017 and not 2018.
You can start filling your income taxes in February and it takes few weeks or less sometimes for the assessment, so he doesnt have to wait until 2018 unless the limit to apply for sponsorship has been reached.

The cap was reached in two days this year (i.e. first two days of January). It's been like that since CIC introduced the cap and will continue as long as there is a cap. Feb or March is way too late. OP won't be able to apply until 2018 (unless a Quebec resident).
