Hi all,
I'll give a brief description first
I have an electrical engineering technology advanced diploma with co-op. The original program includes 6 semesters and 4 - four month co-ops. I have a bachelors from home country so I got direct admission into 4th semester and I finished 3 semesters (4,5,6) and a few mandatory courses from first three semesters and did 3 co-ops. The diploma certificate I received states - 'Electrical Engineering Technology Advanced Diploma with co-op'. I started in Jan 2013 and finished in April 2015.
My question is, Would this be considered as a 3 year diploma or 2 year?
Most likely, it will be considered 3 years diploma. You just received credits for first 3 semesters because of previous studies.
Does your transcript shows 9 semesters in total? (6 studies and 3 co-ops)

Hey spec thanks for getting back. It doesnot says 6 and 3 semesters as such, but it shows all the courses in this program and it has grades in front of the ones I did and it has 'E' (Exempted) in front of the ones I got exemption.
The transcript has summary under the heading of:
1. Post secondary winter 2013,
2. Post secondary summer 2013,
3. CE Fall 2013,
4. Post secondary Fall 2013,
5. Post secondary Winter 2014,
6. Post secondary Summer 2014,
7. Post secondary Fall 2014,
8. Post secondary Winter 2015,
9. Post secondary Summer 2015.
Also, I took continuing education (Night classes) for 1 course (during CE Fall 2013) to make it easy for myself for the last semester.
You have completed only 1.5 years of your program in Canada. You qualify for 15 points.

Hi jkhan thanks for replying,
But I also finished 3 co-ops and worked required hours to be eligible to get a co-op advanced diploma

Yes, that is correct. I would suggest you to mention, 3-year advance diploma.
Make sure, to attach your transcript with your college certificate, when you receive ITA. This way CIC officer would know, why you completed 3 year diploma in two.
Also, you can attach "Graduation Letter" with your Education documents. You can request that from International Centre, takes 2-3 weeks. It will list that you have completed 3-year diploma, start date, end date, internship program and all the necessary details, required to satisfy CIC officer.

Thanks a lot spec

Hello guys..advanced diploma in biotechnology, completed in two years..will it be considered two year or 3 year program?
It should be considered get the points for 6 semesters (OR 3 year program) as semesters determine whether it is advanced or an ordinary diploma.
Did anyone in this thread get their PR yet? I am applying this July so wondering if someone can volunteer to answer my query?
