I am a postdoctoral researcher. My Work Permit will expire 30-Sep-2018 but I have applied for extension for one more year on 29-Jul-2018. However, the government is still "processing" my application....

I learnt that I will be under implied status which means I will be still legal to work/stay in Canada after 30-Sep-2018 (but the limitation is that I cannot leave Canada, and this is OK). Please let me know if I get this wrong.

My most important question is: Do I need to do anything about the implied status, which means is it true that I will be automatically under implied status after 30-Sep-2018, given I have filed an Work Permit extension application??
