Hello I was born in Canada and I met my wife in Macau since late 2010, and we were married in 2013 in Macau. Married certificate using Canada law.
My wife is from Vietnam and went to Macau for work.
Mid 2014 my wife was laid off her job, and had go back to Vietnam and apply for a new job again. She could mostly likely come go back to Macau after Chinese New Years. I could no longer stay in Macau/Vietnam with my wife anymore as my business did not go so well, and I need to go back to Canada and find a job.
I didn't apply earlier due to half being lazy, and half stressed and busy with my business.
We want to be together and not separate from each other. Is there anyway my wife could come to Canada sooner so we could be together while the application for PR is waiting? Could she come to Canada for work and wait for PR approval? I wish there was a hot line to ask specific questions about these things some where. It's really confusing and headache to go around look for long articles and not have every question answered.
Your wife will require a visitor visa to come to Canada. It could be difficult to get since you're living in Canda, and she will have to show strong ties in Vietnam and that she will return to Vietnam after her visitor status expires. If she is in Canada, she won't be able to work on visitor status.
Your wife can try for a work visa, but for this she will have to find a specific employer that is willing to go through an LMIA (which has to prove that there are no Canadians or PRs that fit the requirements and that they must hire your wife. This costs $1000 and it can be difficult to find an employer willing to do it and to prove that there are no Canadians able to do the job).
Your best bet is probably to get the sponsorship application for PR together as quickly as possible to start the process. Your wife may have to remain in Vietnam throughout this time if she is unable to get a visitor visa or work permit. Unfortunately, your wife's application will be processed through Singapore (if she is unable to get a visitor visa to apply inland) which has a longer timeline, however, if the application is thorough and complete, the timeline will be much quicker than the posted time. If she is able to get a visitor visa, then you can apply inland, which will allow your wife to work on an OWP if included in the application, about 4 months after submitting the application package to Mississauga.
