I am applying for PR through family class( spouse- sponsorship ) and I am wondering for the processing time, will it always be at what is listed on the cic.gc.ca website? Can we rely on the Data cic provided or that we should expect longer waiting times or better, shorter than listed waiting times? (assuming that we have a fully completed, always flawless application)
if anyone has experience having a shorter than listed waiting time, please share. Thank you!
Depends on how straight forward and well organized your app is and what your visa office is. Some applications are done much faster than the stated time.
I thought the posted time was supposed to be the average time a file takes so yes there are some that get processed faster than the posted time and others that take longer.
You might look to see if there is a thread for the consulate office that will be handling your application, and ask those people directly what the general experience has been.

The posted time is the time it takes for 80% of cases to be processed, so not the average. But yeah, most apps will be done before that. But again, depends on your case and the VO.
When ours went through, the time posted for Paris was 9 months, we got the PPR in 4 months 28 days, so a lot faster Some others from Paris were around the same time frame too
This is a neat spreadsheet. It shows the times it takes to process 23/30/50/70/80 % of all cases for different offices, and you'll see that a lot of cases get processed faster than the time posted on the CiC website.
There are sooo many factors that play into processing time...how busy that particular VO is, history of applications going through that office (some areas are much more heavily scrutinized than others), and even frivolous things like was the VO in a good mood when he/she opened your file. From the applicants end, all you can do is put together the most complete and organized application possible...then find something to distract you for at least the next 6 months. It's hard enough waiting on something you have very little control over, no need to make it worse driving yourself crazy over what may or may not speed it up

Thank you so much! I remember on the CIC website, they used to have these too, but now they are gone, thank you much for bringing it here though, this gives me a better picture of the processing time for sure!
