I am currently living outside Canada and would like to do the following and see if it would enhance my chance of getting higher CRS scores:
Current situation: CRS score (under FSW) around 415 because of age
Planning:
1. go to canada to take a 1-year master degree (my wife and kids will come to canada too)
2. stay behind to do 1 year full time job
3. apply express entry under CEC and the CRS score should jump up to around 480
Would any of you have any comment of the above actions? any potential problem that would arise?
Is that if I apply EE through CEC, if my CRS score is above the invitation cut off score, I will receive ITA in the next round immediately? I ask this because for PNP (OINP in particular), even I meet their min score requirement, it all depends on whether they will pick you up or not, which is risky to me.

How are you intending to get a work permit? If you are expecting to receive a only a 1 year PGWP, it's unlikely that you will be able to get exactly 365 days of full time work done in order to qualify for CEC. You might be able to do it, but most don't.

In theory that's a possibility. However, the employer would have to go through the LMIA process, which is expensive, time consuming and not guaranteed to be approved. Many employers are happy to take on an Open Work Permit holder but decline to support a Closed Work Permit.
