Good day all,
I am eligible to apply for the citizenship now but I cannot find the calendar that I submitted for my PR application when calculating physical presence.
I can re-create it but I am worried that if I am not recreated the dates that were already submitted exactly, it could create issues.
My questions are:
1) Is there a way to get a copy of the calendar submitted with my PR application?
2) Will there be issues if I do not submit the same calendar day for day that was submitted for the PR?
Just create a new one. The citizenship officer has too many applications to handle to want to go through the details of one person’s PR application for every single one.
Just try to recall the dates to the best of your ability.
All applicants for Canadian citizenship must meet the residence/physical presence requirements the day before signing their application. The day the applicant applies is not counted towards residence/physical presence.
Applications that are signed or submitted by applicants in error, before they have accumulated the minimum amount of residence/physical presence, are returned to the applicant by the Case Processing Centre in Sydney (CPC-S). The CPC-S returns the application with a full fee refund and a letter 2023 holiday calendar advising the applicant that they have not submitted satisfactory evidence of having been a permanent resident for the required amount of time.
I'm not 100% sure, but you may be able to get information about your old applications (a full copy, or at least GCMS notes) through a request under the Access to Information Act. You can also obtain information about your travel history (exits from Canada, entries in Canada) from CBSA.
