I'm looking to sponsor my wife to help her immigrate from the United States to Canada.
In the Document Checklist (form IMM 5533; most recent version), it's mentioned we should submit up to 20 photos of our wedding, celebrations, outings, etc.
It also states "Please write your name and your date of birth on the back of each photo", and to add a brief description.
Since this is in the SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS FOR SPONSORED PERSONS section of the form, I was wondering: MUSTit be the Principal Applicant that signs and describes these photos, or can the Sponsor do it? (It is currently easier for me, the Sponsor, to do this.)

My wife being the sponsor did the writing on the photos, don't think that could be a problem. All we wrote was, date and place picture was taken and what we were doing, very brief.

I thought this statement "Please write your name and your date of birth on the back of each photo" is for the 2 PR application photos that would be used for the PR card... Not for all the 20 pic.. but I may be wrong.
For the 20 pic, it's good to put time when it was taken, what was the occasion and who are in the pic for each of them.

You are right, however it's not 2 but 1 of 2 picture for PR card should have stamp, dob, name and date etc. Other 20 pictures for wedding proof need Name of bride and groom, date and little event detail. That's it.

Yup, and depending on where you got your 2 passport-style photos taken, the photographer might even stamp the back of the photo, leaving you a clearly marked space where you're supposed to fill out PA's name and date of birth.
