Photographs of family members not accompanying?

Hello friends,

I am in process of sending my application to local CHC. I just have small doubts, do we need to send 5 copies of photographs of family members who are not accompanying us to Canada as well (father mother)?? I have included them in IMM 0008-Generic form as it says we need to list ALL family members regardless of whether they accompany us or not. But I am not sure about sending there photos to local CHC.

Secondly, I notice that the notary has stamped "I certify that I have seen the original document and this is a true copy of it" but he has not written the name of the document. Is this statement enough or we need to make notary write the name of Each document he is signing?

You do not need to send the photographs of your father and Mother. Actually Family as defined in instruction guide does not include Mother and father. You need to provide detailes of Parents only in additional family Information form.

For second part of the Question, Notary's statement is about the document on which he/she is writing so.

Thanks a lot ankit for your reply. Are you sure we have to fill the names of mother and father only in additional family info? The instructions say that we will NOT be able to sponsor then at later stage if we do not list them.

I had written father mother in my application to CIC sydney thinking that I will not be able to sponsor them later in life. So now If i do correction to local CHC is it ok?

thanks for your reply. Actually its given in the instructions that the notary should also write the name of the document signing which I didnt realize initially.

See Page 23 on instruction guide at link http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/EG7.pdf for what is considered as family for IM008 form purpose.

Additional family information will include brothers, sisters, parents which can then be sponsored later.

have you been able to confirm whether parents should not be included in form imm0008? It does say in the guidance that spouses, children MUST be included but it did not specifically mention that all other family members (parents) must not be included...

family members (imm 0008) refers only to spouse/common law partner, dependent children and dependent chldren of a dependent child. parents, brothers and sisters are to be included only in the Additional Family Info (IMM 5406)

The addition family form should have your mother and father info (and this is asked). No other forms should have mother, father information. Only family members i.e., wife/husband/partner and kids.

Parents are not considered family members as defined by CIC.

only problem is i sent my application 1.5 months back and filled parents details in imm0008. Do you think my application will be returned becoz of this?

Also, i read we have to send original documents, like birth certif, educational certif, did u send originals or notarized copies? I am a bit sceptical about sending originals, what happens if they are lost!

it asks some for originals and some for certified photocopies. Those that they ask for originals are the ones you can get many of.

Ankit, Apache & Rupesh are perfectly right' with their answers to your query.
1. Our family means spouse (or common-law-partner, including proven 'same-s.e.x' partners) & kids.
2. Parents & siblings are 'additional' family members [they cannot be accompanying members to our apps].
