Photograph question

For the photograph, can I scan a photo taken 7 years ago which is same as my current passport and upload?
Coz I will be asked to submit a hard copy later anyway right?

Or should I take one at home and upload?

I would suggest you take a new one and submit it. If it was shot in the last year or so, then it is fine but 7 years is a long time, its preferable you go for a new one.

i also read from somewhere that CIC requires a writing in the back as to: (1) what is the studio name and (2) the date it was taken?

is this still applicable for express entry, or is it only for those paper-based entries?

I know. I'm confused too. On the instruction for EE, it didn't say to show the back with studio name etc...
I guess cic will ask paper copy along with passport when the application is almost done?

That requirement comes in when you send photos for the PR card, not relevant for EE application.
