Hello everyone,

I got my Bachelor's Degree from a reputable university in Canada, and right after my graduation, I was recruited to a large corporation in the financial sector in Montreal. It has been almost a year working under the NOC Code Level A with my PGWP. But I really want to apply and get my Permanent Residency.

There are couple of questions that I have regarding the conversion from PGWP to PR.
First, even though my work experience is in Quebec, I am not planning on staying here since I do not speak French which makes me ineligible for the Skilled Working Program in Quebec. Therefore, my plan is to move to Ontario after I reach one-year work experience benchmark in Montreal. Would this work experience in Quebec count towards my PR application even though I will be living in Ontario?

Second, what kind of documents are necessary relating to the work experience for the PR application? I can provide my employment letter etc and do I explain what exactly I do for my job? This is just out of curiosity since I did not come across anywhere with the actual application documents.

Lastly, do I have to keep my job or have a job offer AFTER completing the one-year requirement work experience?
As of my research, I will be able to apply through Federal Skilled Worker Program but if there are any other programs that would get me the PR earlier/easier, I would be more than glad to hear about it!
Thanks a lot in advance.

Your work experience in Quebec will count.

Recommend you dedicate time to reading through the program requirements and paperwork needed on the IRCC web site. This is the best way to determine what documents you need.

Who you work for us up to you on the PGWP. You do not have to keep the same job. Since you mention the one year employment, it sounds like you are interested in applying for PR through the CEC program. Note that for both CEC and the Federal Skilled Worker program, people are selected based on points. Have you determined how many you will have after a year of work exerpience? Right now you need 470+ to be selected for PR.

Work experience letter is what you're talking about, a lot of information out there just need to Google it.
You can switch jobs anytime you want, for as long as you hold a valid work permit. The program under which you'll be able to apply for PR will be determined based on your Express Entry profile and if your receive an invitation to apply it will automatically chose the program under which you are invited to do so and will generate a documents checklist accordingly.

Once you've worked in a Canada for a year at least 30 h/week you will qualify for both CEC and FSW, but you'll be invited to apply through the first which is the one that takes preference.

Thank you for your response. I have calculated my score and as of now it is more than 500 points. However, I have another question which you might know the answer.
I applied to my PGWP 4 months ago but due to recent activities with COVID-19, my application is still under review. However, according to IRSS, I can and I am actually working full-time while waiting for the decision on my application. Will this 4 months time frame still count under the "Work Experience" even though my work permit has not been officially issued?

You stated in your first post that you had been working almost a year on your PGWP but now you are saying you applied for it 4 months ago. Which is it?

Even if you've maxed your language scores and have at least 3 years of skilled foreign work experience, it is very unlikely that you have over 500 points without at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada and a job offer that qualifies for points.

My most recent post with 4 months delay is actually for my girlfriend. I just wanted to ease off the confusion which made it even more confusing, apologies. She has been waiting for 4 months without any response.

Onto points, I have 1-year experience as it was stated in the first post. That is why I have 500+ according to the calculator on CIC page. Thanks.

If you post for other people, it is important to state that to avoid confusion.
