My work permit expires in September 2025. I am in the pool but haven't received the invite yet. I was worried about my PGWP expiring. Can I apply for a work permit extension without getting an ITA?
I read somewhere online that BOWP is to only support you while waiting for your decision. Can you please help me understand whether I can extend without having an application in process or not ?
PGWP cannot be extended unless due to passport expiry. You cannot get BOWP unless received ITA and have AOR. So if you don’t have ITA, you stop working.
There is not. There were policies in place previously during COVID that allowed extensions but those policies have ended.
If you want to continue working then you either need ITA so that you can submit your application and quality for a BOWP or your employer needs to get an approved LMIA so that you can switch to a closed work permit.

Not unless you have an approved LMIA to apply for closed work permit, from an IEC eligible country for a working holiday visa, Express Entry ITA with AOR.
