Hi,

I am an international student in Canada and was here for a 2 semester course which ended in April, 2018. I will get my transcripts by May 14, 2018 or sooner. I have a got a full time job offer and I want to apply for PGWP. My student permit is active till May 31, 2018. I have the following questions:

1) The company who has offered me the job wants me to start immediately so can I work part time till May 31 i.e till my student permit is active?

2) I am aware that one needs to have an active study permit to apply for PGWP so I will apply for PGWP as soon as I get my transcripts. After I submit my PGWP application online, can I start working from the next day after I submit my PGWP application or do I need to wait for any acknowledgment from CIC before I start working?

3) What is the typical processing time for PGWP application in Toronto?

Thanks.

1 - Yes.
2 - Once you apply for a PGWP you can start working full-time.
3 - Check IRCC's website.

Hi DelPiero07,

Thanks a lot for the quick response. Appreciate it.

IRCC website shows 45-50 days for processing online PGWP application. My student permit expires on 31st may and my PGWP will be in process so will I not get new SIN number until i get the permit?

Thanks

Contact Service Canada - you should be able to apply by using your study permit.
