Hi all,
I currently have a 3 year PGWP issued to me until 2016. I am planning to get my second degree this fall, will the study permit invalidate my PGWP? I am also currently awaiting for PR, so I will just need the study permit for the first semester. Any advice is appreciated!

You are not allowed to study while under PGWP so you will need a study permit. You can only have only 1 type of permit at a time so CIC will not be able to issue you a study permit unless they cancel your PGWP first.
Also, keep in mind that the PGWP is a 1 and done deal so even though you may cancel it to get another study permit, you will not be eligible for another PGWP, should you need one.
How far is your PR? Is it possible for you to delay going back to school until you get your PR? It will save you a lot of hassle, not to mention Intl Student Fees etc
Funds are not a problem, we have the money. I am around 6 months into my application and expected to hear a reply in 4 months (sponsored by my canadian born husband)
according to the time line, I will be getting my PR after my first semester. If that is the case, my first semester (which last 4 months) wouldnt require a study permit, is this correct?

Hi guri ^^ I'm not sure yet, I vaguely remembered not providing one for my first degree but i could be wrong. I will inquire, and if so, I will get AIP well before then (with the current processing time) and can apply for one before school starts
