Hi , This is Pradeep from Chennai , Tamilnadu , India ....Im planning to do higher studies in Canada ....
I have completed my BE graduation in Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering in the year May 2011 ...
Now im currently working in a MNC IT company as a programmer analyst ....
Im very keen in getting into MS program in Canada but many consultancies in Chennai are trying to
push into PG Diploma due to the number of arrears history and attempts....
My profile follows
10th = 67%
Diploma ( ECE ) = 82%
Engineering = 67% ( 5 backlogs *cleared / 6 attempts )
I have not yet taken IELTS ....
Please tell me a good suggestion whether to choose PG diploma or MS ??
Im planning to take ITM / Software Engineering Master courses .....
I have few more doubts
Is there enough job openings for PG Diploma like MS ??
What will be the salary difference btw PGD and MS ??
Wil i get VISA approval for my profile ??
Work permit for PGD and MS the same o different ??
What about the budget for MS including living exp etc.. ?? ( my budget is 15lakhs rs. )
Please suggest me few Universities for my profile for MS program ( ITM / Software Engineering ) also please tell me
about the VISA success rate for my profile ....
Here is my friends profile , he is also in same situation
10th = 61%
12th = 75%
UG = 66% ( 8 Backlogs *cleared / 12 attempts )

u both have good profile. but only reason your agents are asking for admission to college is because they are gonna get their 15%commission of your total tuition fees. Rest info you can get from link above.
@ Ms Mech
Is my profile is eligible for trying a decent University instead of colleges.
And i'm interested in doing the Information Technology Management or Engineering Management
What about the job opportunities for both the courses ??
Can you please tel me, Is there enough job openings for PG Diploma like MS ??
What will be the salary difference btw PGD and MS ??

yeah thank u very much for the response but i have one more doubt ....Is it possible to apply directly to college without the help/guidance from the consultancies ??
Bcoz they told they will do all the paper works and help us in the admission ...Also 15% means its too high
Our profile is good for PGD or MS ??

u can surely get in any college . but u can try for medium tier universities for sure.But theres tough competition for admission in universities in ECE , CSE and IT branches. rest that link above will surely help you.
Try to get you score atleast 7 overall with no less than 6.5.
I am not sure about job prospects but i know for sure is that masters is valued and respected much more then diploma
Best Of Luck

yes you can apply directly. you just have to fill out online application,deposit fees and send required documents to their respective admission office through courier. there is no need to pay agents 10-15k for that.
Though visa filling seems complicated where u might not want to take chance anywhere and would surely want to get file prepared by agents.
Best Of Luck.

I would still prefer Masters over Diploma because not only there are high chances of visa but also salaries difference. But mainly one gets jobs on basis of skills and knowledge he has .
If you do 1yr study you get 1yr work permit. but if you study for 2 or more years you get 3 years work permit. so plan accordingly.
I am not in state to comment on Job market in Canada. You must consult some one who is doing job there in your field. Although if you go through some job sites you would find there are many vacancies available.
Remember one can do jobs with in campus for 6month + 45 days. For doing jobs outside campus you have to wait for that period.

But many consultancies here told that chances of getting Visa for SPP students are higher than that of general student visa ...About the salary difference on average MS students get paid 20-25CAD per hour and PGD students get paid 15-20CAD per hour . Also one of the student who did PGD told that if a MS student and a PGD student comes for an interview the interviewer selects the person who is skilled and knowledgeable as u said ....
As for the WP , PGD is also two years then i would get a 2 years WP then ..
yeah okay thats a nice idea to search for job sites for vacancies in particular to field .....
yeah i know but i dint ask for the part time job .. i know that for part time job v should wait for 6 months for Off campus ...
i asked for the Internship ( programme related ) will be arranged by the college or v should search for ourself ??
In SPP there are colleges only. Chances are high in spp that i will not say that because a genuine student gets visa either he applies in SPP or General. The only difference comes is processing time. It is low for spp category and high for general category.
For internship related query you should contact the college you want to apply to.
