We are sponsered i.e. me and my parents. We cant stay more then 5 weeks the first time we land in Canada
Is it possible that we would be asked to appear in person in order to collect PR cards? As our plan is to stay in Canada only for 5 weeks what so ever and then my friend in Canada will forward the cards to me backhome (overseas)
 
Extremely unlikely you will be asked to appear in person. What you have planned should work fine.
