Hi All,
Got a request to provide an updated Personal History (question 8 ) of IMM5669E since 18th birthday.
When I send the application I filled only last 10 years, as requested on IMM5669E form itself.
Is it common, to receive such kind of request ?
Tnx in advance

Yes, the form is not worded very well. CIC wants it from 18 or 10 years which would only happen if you were under 28.

This is very strange request, what I read from the form is:
Provide the details of your personal history since the age of 18, or the past 10 years, whichever is most recent.
Does it mean to fill in past 10 years if over 28 or from age 18 to date if under 28? This is what I interpreted and did the same, but since you got such request, I might be requested as well which would cause delay, bad! ???

It is supposed to mean from the age of 18.

I'd say the older you are - it'd be easier to choose detailing personal history "in the past 10 years" . Because if you are in your 40s - you'd need to come up with over 20 years of information - not easy to do! I was 27 when I applied and I chose to disclose my information after I was 18.

Really? Ok, let us see if I got request to update the form again. I would say most ppl would interpret it as what I thought. So bad wording!!!
Glad I'm 26 and haven't had that issue. But I agree, I also thought that CIC wants information
since the age of 18 or the past 10 years if you're older than 28.
I am more than 28 y/o and I submitted the info for the past 10 years. Because that's how I understood it. Now I am nervous.

Yeah, that is why I was surprised for such request! Let us wait and see if we will get such request from CIC.
My understanding is that the form requires details for the last 10 years or from the age of 18 if you are under 28. There have been discussions regarding this on this forum and others. The old wording for this form used to be:
"...for the prior 10 years or since 18, whichever comes first". Obviously this was extremely confusing, which is why they changed it to their current wording "whichever is most recent". I think it is quite self-explanatory now.

There is a thread on British Expats about the topic. Here is what the posters are saying
"Many thanks to AmyDavid for this information in her post here with this information.
Whilst it says 'either from the age of 18 or the past 10 years' please note that it's a requirement for the Personal & Address history forms to be completed with information from the age of 18 and not just 10 years.
Failure to give the information from the age of 18 will mean you receive your forms back to update them, causing delays.
But the instruction is clear. Unless my English is failing me. I remember when we passed the application for work permit, we also submitted a Background declaration. Our immigration consultant just included the past 10 years and we never had a problem.

Thanks PMM for sharing this info. It us very inconsiderate that CIC is not clear on the wording of such important request. If most of us get such request later, we should create a separate thread to remind all prospective applicants and maybe Toby can put this in his Tool link.
^ I agree. If someone receives the same request, then it's time to have another thread about this. A request for more information coming from the CIC is not bad. I just hope that this will not be a reason for rejection.

No, I doubt it will result in rejection, never heard of it from this forum or ppl I know. The worst is to cause some delay.
