Permanent Resident Visas: How long are they valid for?

Hello there,
I am in the second and final stage of the sponsorship process for my wife and daughter, and they are at the stage where they will soon need to mail certain required documents as well as their passports, to get permanent resident visas to permit them to travel to Canada and become landed immigrants.

I was wondering if anyone on the forum might know for how long permanent resident visas are valid for. When I got my permanent resident visa in 2015, it was valid for six months. I am wondering if that is still the case today or if the length of time (validity period for permanent resident visas) has changed. A lot of things have changed in light of the pandemic.

Usually one year from the date of the medical examination.

Thank you for your response, armoured. It means things have changed. When I did mine, my PR visa was only valid for six months.

Presume you did not apply under spousal, so perhaps not directly comparable

Exactly, I was not yet married when I received mine in 2015.

Well if their medical was done 6 months before their application is approved, then their COPR will expire 6 months from the day (i.e. 1 year from medical)
