Hi I am a permanent resident of Canada and need to travel quickly as my wife has cancer and does not have much time.
I was born in the U.K and came to Canada when i was 8 months old I am now 46 i have never traveled.
I do not have an updated Canadian PR card or British passport.

is there any way to obtain documents to travel quickly?????

Are you traveling back to the UK? If not, are you traveling somewhere that will require you to board a flight?

If so, then you can't board a flight without a passport and will need to obtain a British passport. Visit/contact the British embassy/consulate closest to you asap to ask what you should do.

Don't worry as much about the PR card. Since you are visa exempt, you shouldn't have a problem getting back into Canada. The issue is the passport.

Someone who is visa exempt can enter Canada on their passport alone. British passport holders are visa exempt. This means that as long as you have your British passport, you'll have no trouble boarding a flight back to Canada with no PR card. All you need is your British passport.

The issue is that you can't board an international flight without a passport. So you should be focusing on obtaining a new British passport. Again, I would contact the British embassy/consulate in Canada ASAP to find out how you can obtain a passport and if they have any expedite options.

Take a look at the following web site:

https://www.gov.uk/overseas-passports

It provides information about applying for a UK passport from outside of the UK.

If you go through the questions - it says that the process will take at least 6 weeks. So I think either calling or visiting the embassy/consulate to find out if there is a faster process is definitely what you want to do.

More info...

Here's a process for applying urgently - however it's only available to those who are in the UK.

Given the times involved, I would put money on there being a mandatory in-person interview before they will approve a passport application. This will add to the delay considerably. The UK has tightened up the passport process over the last few years. All new passport applicants are scrutinized much more closely than before.

See https://www.gov.uk/emergency-travel-document for an alternative.
