Hi, been reading all I can on the subject today, but I always like to get a second opinion to make sure I am understanding the information correctly.

From reviewing the CIC website there is the permanent resident (PR) application and then there is the Express Entry application which seems to include the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Traders Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). All seem to result in PR.

Is the PR obsolete and the Express Entry is what should be used for all purposes? If not, when should just the PR application be used instead of Express Entry?

Also, does using the Express Entry application automatically put you into the FSWP, FSTP, CEC, and provincial candidacy pools? The sticky suggest the first three, but thought I read somewhere the provincial candidacy pools too.

Permanent Resident Card application is for those who already have PR status and need to renew their PR cards (which usualy have 5 years validity). To gain PR status you need to go through one of the immigration programs (such as EE).
