Hi a Massive help here please!

I got married to a Canadian citizen three months ago. I was maintaining my status as a student for a Year in Canada and I got Married before my Study permit expired. After my Study permit expired I have applied for extend my stay as a Visitor and I got only one month from mid Jan to end of Feb.

I was wondering wether to submit a permanent resident application + work permit application as a visitor (before my visitor status expired) or apply within 90 days after my current status expired.

I am not sure wether I will be able to apply for a PR as a visitor.

Any kind of advice appreciate.

God Bless

Sam

1. Can you apply for PGWP (post graduate work permit)?
if so, you can stay/work in Canada and apply for sponsorship.

2. if you are not qualified for PGWP, you can apply for sponsorship inland and open work permit .
but you should send application before your visitor visa is expired ( so you have tight time frame now)
it is important to maintain legal status in Canada when you apply for PR.

3. processing time for inland app takes 27 months, so recommend to apply for outland app. (check out where your VO would be)

4. while you apply for outland, you can stay in Canada with proper permit (study permit, work permit or visitor visa)
otherwise, you may need to go home and wait for your PR in your home country.

Good luck
