PCC with expired Passport

Hi,

I have India PCC and Singapore PCC which I did for Australian PR. Now I am applying for Canadian PR.

The passport which I have PCC is expired now, in this case do I need to get the PCC again or can I reuse the one I got previously since I did not visit India after that and also did not stay in Singapore for more than 6 months from the previously issued PCC.

According to the official requirement, I think I can use the same PCC again though it was obtained for Australia, but since that passport is expired I am confused. Could anyone help or advise ?

For any other country
For any other country, the police certificate must be issued after the last time you stayed there for 6 months or more in a row.

Some countries put expiry dates on their police certificates. If you have a police certificate that expired, include it. We’ll accept it if:

• it was issued after the last time you stayed there for 6 months or more in a row
• it is not for the country where you currently live

An officer may ask for a new one later on.

The PCC should not be expired. Each PCC has an expiration date. I would advice to get a new PCC if yours are older than 6 months.

Hi Preetsingh,

Thank you for the reply according to the canada cic website page in my link it states expired PCC for "other countries" will be accepted but in my case the PCC's are in a different passport. I guess I will apply again to avoid unnecessary delays in the later stage.

I don’t know about the time period involved or how old PCCs can be but i did submit PCCs having my old passport number because just before submitting my application i got my passport renewed but i explained it in LOE plus also attached main page of old passport and also second page of my current passport which clearly mentions my old passport number. Also my ielts cert had the old passport number too so explained that also in LOE. It really shouldnt make a difference because expired or not the old passport clearly belongs to you.

Thank you thats a good information, I am still contemplating if I would be able to use that PCC since it says PCC for "Australia". I know this is a very specific situation.

Yes in your scenario, you should just get new ones, many application rejections happen due to unsatisfactory PCCs so we ought to be extra careful when providing these docs. Like they say ‘better safe than sorry’. All the best!

If the pcc says 'for australia' then you should get a new one.

I am telling you from my recent experience. Its your call to be cautious or do whatever you want.
