I'm in the process of sponsoring my wife. She is pregnant and we are 15 months into the application but with this covid-19 we are not sure if she will be in Canada in time to have the baby. And in Ontario it is 3 months until OHIP so it seems better to have the baby in Ecuador where it is free.
My question is about paternity leave. Since I'm a Canadian citizen but my wife is not...and since the baby is not being born in Canada....am I entitled to EI paternity leave?
If so, does anyone know how long they allow the father EI paternity leave?
(I've worked for the same place for 8 years and meet all EI requirements...just not sure if there is anything about having a baby with a non citizen woman?)
