Paternity leave and benefits in a working visa situation

Hi

I came as a PNP (manitoba) and have been residing and working in Canada for 2 years and a few months. I am waiting for my PR card for a while now and I expect to get it in the next couple of months.

My Canadian ex Girlfriend is having a my son in the next week, but i am fighting for the child custody, and because she is not a very good Human being, chances are I win.

Now my dilemma is if i can provide for my son, in the case I win the child custody. Am I entitled to some kind of paternity leave at least for the first 3 months? Will I get payd some kind of benefits while I am not working and taking care of my new born?

From what I was I told, I can't get EI if I don't get my PR card. My company has to provide me with work and they can't give me lay of. My question is if this applies to the paternity leave as well.
