I've received the passport request letter. I'm a British Citizen currently living in the UK.
The letter says I need to send my actual passport only if I'm not applying from a visa exempt country. Otherwise I can just mail a scan to them.
Is Britain still visa exempt?? I'm confused because when I click the link CIC have provided it says I need the eTA. Is that the same as a visa? I know it's a new thing like the ESTA that America has....
Thanks!!!
PS- is it a good sign they've asked for this? The same letter also asks for photographs? Could that maybe be for my PR card?! Yikes! It's exciting!!
Yes, Britain is still visa-exampt countries, however, this moment you don't need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA), until September 29, 2016. So just follow instructions on PPR letter, send a photocopy of the bio data page of your passport and photographs (for PR card) to them.

Just send a copy of your passport and photos to the address provided and you will get your COPR in return. Thats what you will use to do your landing in Canada.
You made it, so time to relax and just wait for COPR!
