We’ve invited our parents to visit us here in Canada. My mother, who is the principal applicant, received an original passport request yesterday; however, my father did not get any letter. Is this normal? If so, how long does it normally take for the accompanying family member to receive the passport request letter?

Unfortunately, my father got refused. I don’t understand the immigration. He is the accompanying family member, they are husband and wife visiting their son here in Canada. Why would they approve my mother but not him? It is really frustrating. But I will have to reapply for him again.

They said because of travel history, purpose of visit and financial status. I don’t really understand this why. When I submitted an application for both of them, most documents requested are for the principal applicant. For example, I only submitted travel history for my mother because it was asked only for her but not for my father. It’s really frustrating.
