Passport renewed, should I notify CIC? How?

Hi all,

I just submitted my application for spousal sponsorship via my wife who is a Canadian PR. My passport had to be renewed and the process was done just a week into submitting the application. Should I be informing CIC or should I wait for my country's VO to ask me for my passport? If I inform CIC how do I do it? They have an email address here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/spouse-apply-after.asp to 'correct information on sponsorship application'. Should I send them a scanned copy of my new passport via this email?

You can. I would also send it to the visa office after you get sponsorship approval and have a file number to ensure that your new passport info makes it into your file.

When my wife updated her passport after we sent in her application, we e-mailed CIC with an explanation and scanned copy of her new passport. This was after sponsorship approval so we had her file number. If you don't have the file number yet, you'll need to wait until you know what it is. Otherwise they will not be able to associate you e-mail with her application.

When she got PPR, we again attached a scanned copy of her new passport and the same explanation.

Thanks all. So I guess I would wait for the approval to come in, get an application ID and then send it to them.
