Anyone who knows what to do for passport renewal? My wife will be renewing her passport this year. As such, she will also be changing her name from her maiden name to her married name? I hope someone can enlighten us. We've already have an appointment next month for her passport renewal but I'm afraid we might need to pass the application ASAP using her current passport to avoid CAP.
If you were married recently then you should be able to start the Visa process and then after changing the name on her passport (requires marriage certificate) you can submit the marriage certificate & new passport quoting the UCI reference for your application.

In the west there is no significant advantage for the wife to take on the husband's family name and there is the added hassle of getting education certificates etc assessed with the maiden name and passport in the married name.
We consciously chose to let my wife use her maiden name. My recommendation would be to apply with her maiden name and then renew her passport. As long as your name is endorsed on her passport and vice versa, you will not have any technical,troubles in India with banks etc.

I don't have any UCI. This is my first time to apply. When do I communicate the change in her name?When the processing is already in the local Visa Office?
Send your application buddy. Best thing to do is once you have you have an assigned number, then that's the time you send the new passport and better to re-do the forms.
