My wife is ready to send in the application for visa to Canada. Can we just use her passport she has now with her original name and show the marriage certificate if needed or should we have it changed into her married name now. The reason I ask is it takes a long time to process a name change in a passport in the Philippines and I would like to do it at a latter date
Yes you can send in the application now without changing the name on her passport.

You can, but the visa will be issued in her maiden name. To some married couples, that may be an issue.
