Passport for minor (Single Parent)

Hi,

I would like to ask, how to apply for a minor passport if his mother is not Candian (she is not even in Canada), we divorced a long time ago then I moved with the kid and my new wife to Canada.

I ask this question because I heard that, both parents should sign the passport application. I don't have a legal Custody document, but I have his mother's consent to allow my boy to travel with me. Also, my COPR listed my boy as a dependent.

Is the child born in Canada or do you have citizenship?

The child was born outside Canada. But he got citizenship after the pr.

Thanks for your reply. My problem is with that paragraph:

"Each legal parent or guardian should sign the application form."

As I re read it, both parents must sign. You would need exclusive custody to have the other parent not sign.
