Wanted to know min. how many months should my passport be valid post COPR email? My current passport expires in Feb 2018

I wouldn't worry about this..your COPR will usually expire one year after your medicals or passport expiry date, whichever one is earlier.
 
When you are sending your documents for COPR then your passport should be valid for more than 6 months, after it doesn't matter so much but your COPR will have expire date depends on passport or medicals, like Darkenny said above.
