Passport and Visa are going to expired

Hi Guys,

My study permit visa got approved in the month of March 2018 and it is going to expire in September 2018 because my passport is valid till October 2018. But still I am living in the USA, I haven't moved to Canada yet. I have deferred my studies to January 2019. I have renewed my old passport and received my new passport yesterday

My Question:

Do I need to apply for the visa as a new application or do I need to apply as a visa renewal?

Please do help me and I really appreciate your comments.

There is no such thing as a “visa renewal”. You’ll have to apply for a new TRV just as before, with the same process and requirements.
