Parents visitors visa

Hello,

My parents visitors visa is expiring on September 19th 2024 ( as their old passport was expiring on the same date ).

Now they got their new passport last week ( applied here in Toronto).

Since they came to Canada in Feb 2024 they supposed to leave by Aug 2024 (6 months). In order to extend their stay for 6 more months, Do I need to submit for renewal or a new visa?

Thank you so much for your prompt reply. If I apply for a visitor record, how long do they get? I mean, they get till Sept 2024 ( as visa expiry date ) ? Or new visa with new expiry date beyond Sept 2024?? Any Idea?

It is up to IRCC but not related to visa expiry date.
