Hi Forum Members, I have a quick question.

I will be sponsoring my parents in 2016 for PR. I'm wondering what the minimum passport validity should be at the time of application ?

My mom's passport will expire in mid 2017. Can I still apply for sponsorship/PR with her current passport in 2016 ? Or do I need to get it renewed (not even sure if I can considering there are more than 1.5 years left on it).

Thank you!

You can apply with the current passport. Parents sponsorship is a long process, you can send the new passport information once they renew it (or when passport request will be finally issued)

Hi, quick question regarding parents passports..

Do the passport copies have to be certified or regular copies are good?

Thanks!
