Congrats. How many days did it take Ottawa to send back the passport after it was delivered to them?

they got there July 4th. We got them today. There was a mix up, i got two emails with passport request contradicting each other. We shouldn't send the passports in because we only need ETA now, no more visa. anyway it got here. I called to book an appointment at Canada Place here in Edmonton, to make the landing, and they told i will be contacted in 6-8 weeks to let me know a date. crazy waiting time....

Thanks for the info. I guess you could also land at US border?! a faster option.

If you want to do the u-turn at Niagra make sure to be there early morning. I heard there is a huge 3 hour line up and they close early afternoon.

Why do some people were just issued ETA and some were issued visas?are ETA’s issued because they have valid supervisas already and are here in canada?

ETA is issued for citizens of countries that do not need a visa for travelling to Canada.

I got medical request on May 31. Completed medical test in 4 June. Case office- Ottawa.

So probably our cases will close to each other. Keep in touch.

If you are from a country that requires visa for entering Canada (e.g. China), you are issued a visa so you can enter Canada when landing. If you are for a country that does not require a visa to for Canada (e.g. Germany), you do not need to send the passport, only need an ETA to travel to Canada to do the landing.

Yes, they will get an "Immigrant visa", which will be used only once when they'll do the landing in Canada.

Received the IMM1017 on MyCIC just now after receiving the "Information and Documents needed" mail on Friday. Others can check too.
There was a system maintenance perhaps that's why this wasnt sent earlier.
