I live in Canada, recently received my Canadian citizenship. I was sponsored by my father to come to Canada. Now I am trying to sponsor my mother under the Parent sponsorship program (my parents have been divorced for a long time, plus my father passed away 1 year after I got here...). My only problem with this program is that it now requires me to have had a certain amount of income for the last 3 years, which I don't since I've been a student (I'm 22 yrs old). I know the only way to have a co-sponsor is through a spouse or common-law, which I don't have either. I do have my aunt here - my mom's sister - who would be an excellent co-sponsor since she has a very good income, but I'm not sure if it would be possible to have her as a co-sponsor.
So my question is, has anyone heard of a situation where a co-sponsor was another relative other than a spouse?
