Hi, I know that the parent sponsorship is presently inactive, however, I wish to be ready anytime it re-opens.

I got a few basic questions, please kindly help out. I'm a grad student at a university and i receive scholarships.
1) The university gives me T4A (not T4) for my proof of income. May I use my T4A income to satisfy my financial undertaking of my parent sponsorship application?
2) If T4A is not acceptable, is there other options I could pursue? For example, take a part-time job and get the employer to give me T4? Or, I could simply declare cash income, which is even acceptable?
3) How long must I proof that I have income for before submitting the sponsorship application? The 12 months immediately prior to submitting the application? Or, the entire period since I came to Canada for?
4) How much income must I proof? Is it alright if my income is only slightly above the LICO of the year I submit the application?
5) I've heard from different sources that the parent sponsorship program would re-open sometimes late 2013 or early 2014. My question is, I should submit my application asap as it re-opens in case there are spots limited right?

Thank you very much! Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

I'll help with a few questions.

You'll need to request an Option C from Revenue Canada. You can do this by calling them.

We expect that CIC will start accepting applications again in November / December of this year. But you'll obviously have to wait until the official start date is announced by CIC.

Many of us expect the LICO amounts will be increased - possibly significantly. It's impossible to answer any questions related to LICO until the new rules are announced.

We don't know if there's going to be a cap on applications. However it's always best to get your application in quickly since the processing times are long.
