Well as far as I know, different province have different laws for driving with international driving license. Like (I heard), in Ontario, you can drive for one month with an IDP while in Alberta, you can drive as long as it is valid although they ask you to make a local permit as soon as you can. The only thing that may help you is getting the local permit without the test. You just have to check the website of the transport authority of the province you are going to.
I think rahsan has explained really good ......... but yes basically u can driver for atleast a month in every pro ......... even u can rent a car on international licence................
Basically, you will be needing a local license eventually. The IDP just helps you to skip the exam for license (not always though) and lets you drive till you get a local license (given that you have the validity of IDP over that period of time). But yes, as far as I know, you can drive for 1month in Ontario. Then again, they might have clauses in between like 1month till you apply for the local license or something like that (not sure about it). So you should do some homework on ontario/toronto driving authority's homepage. Rules always keep on changing
