i have a sibling who was deported from UK due to overstaying more than 5 yrs ago. We would like to give him a 2nd shot for abroad, provide sibling a homecare worker job for us as that was the relevant experience he have and as we have 2 kids as well.

Can he still apply visa/work in Canada given that he has a record in UK?

Any insights? And do you guys think we can get him as the caregiver for our kids?

Thank you so much!

Yes, this may be possible. Make sure you research the caregiver program requirements. The program is scheduled to reopen again in March and normally the spots available are quite limited in number.

May be difficult but can certainly attempt to apply. Assume you have proof of existing childcare that they would be replacing and that you have the extra disposable income to pay for private childcare. Sadly this program is going to become a family reunification program that will become heavily abused while many genuine caregivers will lose out.

I dont have an existing childcare cause hubby and I can manage one child. We get help from our friends if hubby and i really need to go in an important appointment together. However, i recently gave birth and we are looking how we can manage work when i get back. Both our work pays well, but a bit hard for scheduling, if changed. Difficult situation to deal with. :( Filtered down dayhomes too. But to no avail.

Then i remembered my sib, like yeah, with international experience and certificates too Wondering if we can take chance and he too can take chance to work overseas again. Like, why not?

So here i am too, asking for advice and opinions.

Thank you so much!

Processing may take years even if selected so you should hire someone else to provide childcare while you wait to see if your sibling gets approved and then they can eventually replace the other worker. If you can manage on your own then it will be hard to justify why you need childcare all of a sudden.

We actually hardly managed, like going in and out of the needle hole. Sorry cant get exact words or explain and express properly as i always get brain farts and fog due to underlying condition which adds to our difficulties. And as what i've said, i recently given birth, so i got 2 kids now already, so situation more challenging. And not that comfortable getting other people. Im just..paranoid. But gosh, yeah, looks like it's gonna be hard.

It takes a few years and generally only a limited number of applications are accepted each year. You want to start preparing now if you plan to apply this March.

Especially in the case of trying to hire family for a caregiving role you really need to show that you filling an existing caregiving role/need. For example you had another baby when application was actually being processed and wanted to return to work with 3 children after your maternity leave and this is not an attempt for family reunification.

Wondering tho if they will really ask that why of all people, a sibling? Just an honest question.

Question
What did this mean ?

“We would like to give him a 2nd shot for abroad,”

Did the family set up something prior ?

This isn’t a family reunification program so yes you have to go above and beyond showing the need to a full-time caregiver.

Nope, no set up at all cause the prior one was sibling working in UK as a health care aid for various institutions. But latest employer left him hanging, so he ended up overstaying (like still waiting for a chance, but unfortunately) got deported.

Second shot since I'm a lil bit aware of the 5 countries (USA, Canada, UK, Aus and NZ) that have eyes on immigration hits, so wondering if ever his application will get started, i know the deportation history will have an impact, but not sure how much it is since it's more than 5 yrs already.

For PR no issue but could raise concerns that you are trying to help your family member secure immigration and childcare is an afterthought.
